Talk to Me Tuesday: Halloween Show and Tell

Talk to Me Tuesday: Show and Tell
Since I am just starting out on my blog, I thought I'd do this Tuesday exercise that that I have been reading on my favorite blogs for weeks. My son Colin recently had his 8th Birthday. After much coxing I talked him into doing a Halloween Costume Party. We transformed the living room in to a black light lit room of doom, but as usual we didn't get any pictures of it since Mom is the designated party planner, gracious host, chef, dresser, all around lackey, as well as the picture taker. No sweat we had fun in the room anyway.

Colin 8 Where has the time gone?

We were blessed with warm weather and hardly any wind.
Colin was Indiana Jones.

He has become obsessed.
He wants to watch each movie.
He as started many times but I'm not sure he has made it through one whole one yet.

Claire was Hannah Montana.
This is the only time we got her to wear the wig that she HAD to have.
She is a Diva in training with or without the wig.

For the party we decorated cupcakes, there were sprinkles flying everywhere and when all was said and done I don't think anyone eat their "masterpieces". Too gross! lol

The highlight of the party, to me anyway was when we played Halloween Hullabaloo a game I found on MeckMoms blog. The kids had a ball jumping and slithering around.

Here is another pic of Claire with my niece Piper. Aren't they adorable?

On the day before Halloween I found
Bakerella, who has the cutest little cake pops and guess who got a wild hair to try it out. After many excruciating hours (just kidding it wasn't that bad) I came up with my own version, not a beautimous as Bakerella but not bad for my first attempt.

My Door was my favorite decoration this year and I will do it again next year. It was rather simple. I found a black wreath and Googly eyes at Michael's and took a hot glue gun. I glued pairs of eyes all over the wreath, which turned out cool, then I decided to take it one step further and hot glued the rest of the eyes all over the door. Thanks to my sister Julie for doing some of gluing( those little suckers get HOT).

On Halloween Claire and I went to the MOMSClub Halloween Party and a ball. Then later that night Claire, Colin, and I went with some friends to a Carnival at a local church. Wouldn't you know it my camera was acting crazy and not working so I didn't get pic from that night. My friend Ginna did so I will have to get them from her. Now where was Nathan during all these mountains of fun events you ask? He was and still is hunting with his dad. I'm not sure where I am going to house all the deer meat he is getting and have forbidden him from bringing home and wildlife to adorn my walls.

Hope you had a great Halloween, too!

Melissa

Happy belated birthday to your son. Some of your pictures were so cute. My son thought about being Indian Jones but went for Sponge Bob instead.
Your eye covered door was great!

Great ideas! Your kids must have the best birthday parties! I LOVE thinking about throwing parties, but when it comes to actually doing it... ugh! My son's 1st birthday is coming up on Dec 30th. I am thinking about throwing a New Years Eve party. And my daughter's is the beginning of February. Havent' figured out what to do with hers.
